Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) resources

The new, simplified rules will make RGI administration and calculations easier for community housing providers and tenants to predict and understand. The rules came into effect on July 1, 2020 and will be fully implemented in all service areas after July 1, 2021. Find information, templates and resources on this page to help community housing providers with the transition to the new rules. These resources are geared towards community housing staff who:

are responsible for administering RGI or who review RGI decisions
operate units or have entered into rent supplement agreements with their service manager that are governed by the Housing Services Act, 2011.

The New, Simplified World of Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) Administration

The new, simplified rules will make RGI administration and calculations easier for community housing providers and tenants to predict and understand. This course is designed for community housing providers who operate units or who have entered into rent supplement agreements with their service manager that are governed by the Housing Services Act, 2011.

Course content is delivered through a combination of presentations, reading materials, case studies and video segments, and the course can be completed at your own pace over a three-month period from any internet-enabled computer, smartphone or tablet.

This course is available year-round, with start dates in April, September and January.
